History
Machine Image Deployment System (aka MIDS) came about as a combination
of several factors.
Our budgets at work were slashed and we couldn't afford a commercial imaging system.
Even if we could, they are generally licensed per SERVER. As we have 30+ locations, this would
have been an expensive proposition.
I was fed-up with distributing CDs to engineers
We had a slightly different requirement at one particular site to routinely back-up a set of workstations.
| Version 1.03 | was put into use around June 2005. This was more-or-less based on NetBSD 2.02 with the G4U source
for 2.0 |
| Version 1.04 (CURRENT) | was created 27 July 05 to provide support for some newer hardware which we had bought, V 1.03 wouldn't
boot past the IDE controllers. It is brought into line with G4U 2.1 as it it based on NetBSD source from ~May 17th 2005 |
